Adonis Press, committed to publishing and distributing books on phenomenological science, is now a shopping cart site, using Zen Cart, the free, user-friendly, open source shopping cart software that w3sights works with. In addition to being able to order books on-line using the new secure shopping cart, customers are now able to search the entire catalog of over 75 books. I did the customizations, development and set up. John Barnes, the Store Manager, is already working in Admin and will now be able to add new books to the catalog himself. Earthy Originals is owned by artist Scott Zampier. Scott attends many Craft Shows in the Northeast and was asked if he had a web site so often that he contacted w3sights. Together we created a site as beautiful as his artwork. Earthy Originals is powered by Zen Cart and therefore has many shopping cart features. Scott is always making new designs and likes to keep the site up to date, so check back often. He is also happy to do special orders.

The Johnnycake Books web site was designed using Zen Cart and it is a good example of how Zen Cart can be customized to suit any small business owners’ needs. All books on the site were set up by the owner and his assistant in a easy to use admin area. Johnnycake Books is an Internet and storefront bookseller of rare and collectible books. They were one of the first several hundred booksellers to put their collections on the Internet in 1996 and the entire catalog can be searched from the site at ABE, the world’s largest web-based network of independent booksellers. The Fox Hill Farm Grass Fed Beef site was designed and developed using Zen Cart. I had the great fortune working with amazing photographs, all taken by Larry Lampman, the site owner, at his farm. The photo galleries, in fact, were set up using a clever adaptation of Zen Cart’s additional images that I discovered by reading and following an example in the Zen Cart Forum. Fox Hill Farm accepts checks and money orders for online orders at this time.
Block Island Honey

w3sights is happy to announce that Block Island Honey is now using Zen Cart for all its shopping cart features. The goal in redeveloping the site was to gain the functionality that Zen Cart offers, but keep the same look and feel, originally designed by w3sights several years ago. This meant some customized programming in Zen Cart! Now Littlefield Bee Farm has the ability to update the site themselves and they can take advantage of some helpful shopping cart features such as tracking order status with emails to customers and reporting. The next step is to interface Zen Cart with Quickbooks so that data is exchanged between the two systems automatically.

The Gilmor Glass site is powered by Zen Cart, an open source e-commerce system. I designed the site so that it looks more like a gallery than a typical shopping cart. Block Island Yoga

I wanted the web sight for Block Island Yoga to draw visitors in. I also wanted it to be a soothing experience. I had a lot to work with. Sue Littlefield, who has taught yoga year round on Block Island for 11 years and incorporates yoga and body-mind therapy into her private counseling practice, provided me with the meditative words which became the home page, highlighted ones are links to pages in the site. She also provided the beautiful images which are used throughout the site. I came up with a page layout for Sue to view and she wrote back to me: "I like it very much. I like the simplicity of it. I like the color, the balance, the white text……..Go for it!" And so Block Island Yoga was online shortly thereafter and just in time for the release of Sue’s Yoga CD, Tidal Flow.
Tidal Flow can be purchased online at Block Island Yoga. Sue recognized that it would be helpful for some people to have visuals of the yoga poses and so once you have the cd you can go back to Block Island Yoga and view photographs of the poses referred to on the CD. At Block Island Yoga you can also join the email list, read Sue’s Bio, and check the current schedule of yoga classes.

This site was a project I did for a Graphic/Digital Design class I took at Parsons in New York. I thoroughly enjoyed the class. The teacher stressed that web sites were an experience and should be designed as such. WE first had to make an experience board for the site, the colors and design elements we used evolved into the actual site.
